Nashville, TN - July 21, 2020 - In partnership with ThinkThru, End Slavery Tennessee was recognized with Silver Awards in Educational, Government, and Non-profit categories for their online Introduction to Human Trafficking for Tennessee Educators training modules.

The Omni Awards exist to recognize outstanding achievements in film/video, web and mobile media. They welcome entries from the United States and countries all around the world. To date, they have received entries from all 50 States in the U.S., and over 47 countries. This training digital content ranks in the top 10% in the world in these categories.

The collaboration began in July 2019 with legislation that mandated training for all Tennessee public school educators.

"Thanks to Tennessee General Assembly Chairman Mary Littleton's work with Dickson County high school students, Tennessee was one of the first states in the nation to require human trafficking training for all public school educators. This is a wonderful example of young people driving public policy that impacts their generation!"

-- Margie Quin, CEO, End Slavery Tennessee

This project was funded by Award No. 2017-VA-GX-0051 from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice through the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs.

"When we learned about the plans for an education program from End Slavery Tennessee, we were committed to being part of this effort. This group has incredible compassion and commitment to their mission, and we knew they would be able to connect with young people on this issue that's so important in Tennessee."

-- Jennifer Brinkman, Director, Office of Criminal Justice Programs

Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, Public Chapter 269 required that all Tennessee public educators receive special instruction about human trafficking. Since inception, 15,975 people have taken the training.
