Cusomer Education Tech Stack

A list of some of our favorite tools for training customer education.

As an agency and development partner for many customer education teams, we are constantly interfacing with new technology and also helping clients navigate the customer education technology landscape.

This list shares our favorite technology and tools used on client projects.

Note: We are providers or affiliates of organizations marked with an * for full transparency. We list several solutions in each area regardless of our affiliation with them.

01. Learning Management Systems

Learning management systems deliver content, track progress and completions, provide reporting capabilities, and increasingly provide eCommerce and 'shopping' experiences.

1. Thinkific - view website*

Thinkific is just a fantastic platform to launch a new program or "try customer education" out. We've found companies of all sizes really enjoy the rollout of the platform, and building new courses is fun and simple to scale with the technology.

There are growing libraries of plugins and tools that allow to expand "what's possible" within the Thinkific platform, and if you're ok with low-code customizations - SO much is possible.

02. Content Creation Platform

Content creation platforms allow you to design and build training content and materials.

1. Course Factory*

Course Factory is a platform by ThinkThru that reimagines the ways brands outsource training development and content creation.

With a subscription based model, teams of any size can get access to award-winning course creators providing unlimited content development services. Our mission to provide a truly cost-effective and scalable way to develop engaging content.

2. Loom - view website*

Loom is one of those tools that just changes your workflow instantly. We've reduced meetings, recorded workshops, provided feedback, and collaborated with our clients all using Loom.

It's a simple way to record yourself, your screen, or anything else really and send a video quickly through email or your website.

Note: ThinkThru is part of the Loom Creator program because we use this tool so much and recommend it to our clients.

3. Vimeo - view website

From hosting terabytes of content, to providing review pages for our clients, Vimeo is an essential tool for us.

There are many other tools now on the market that deliver similar features, but Vimeo has been reliable and continues to innovate the embedded video experience for us.

4. Camtasia (by Techsmith) - view website

Docebo offers robust catalog management and partner portal functionality which makes distributing, licensing, and managing large volumes of content possible.

Their interactive page builders also empower anyone to build beautiful dashboards, catalog pages, and other experiences within the platform.

5. Articulate - view website

Few tools make it as simple to build interactive experiences as Articulate.

We love and use all of their tools on client projects.

The platform can be pricey if you aren't regularly creating content, but it's a great system to collaborate on and helps create beautiful, interactive experiences.

03. Distribution Tools

Distribution tools are primarily used to publish content across systems (CMS, LMS, Social, etc.)

1. Buffer - view website

If you need to distribute learning content across social channels and other outlets, few tools make that easier than Buffer.

We use to manage all of our own internal content distribution (and also help clients with their content distribution management.)

2. Content Controller- view website

For enterprise curriculum distribution between multiple LMS systems, Content Controller is arguably the best solution on the market.

Our clients have used Content Controller to deliver multi-language SCORM content, white-label and license SCORM packages across system, and manage content access between organizations.

04. Analytics Tools

Many platforms provide reports, but often teams need analytics that bridges technologies. These are our favorite analytics platforms.

1. Fathom Analytics - view website*

Fathom might be one of the most straightforward web analytics tools to setup. It's clean, easy to understand, and GDPR-compliant.

2. Shield App - view website

One of the most powerful (and simple) LinkedIn Analytics solutions on the market. We use this to measure engagement, find new content ideas, and build more relevant guides and newsletters for our audience.

05. Other Tools

More awesome technology that we use every day.

1. Airtable - view website*

If we could only use  one technology that we use to manage content, organize data, or display information to teams, it would be Airtable.

Perhaps one of the most powerful tools and databases available for no-code builders and teams.

2. Notion - view website*

The other tool that we would use exclusively for drafting, brainstorming, and organizing content. You can even embed other tools (airtable) into pages and make really comprehensive documentation.
